I was not born in Galleywood and I have no family connections with Galleywood but my husband John and I have lived here for 34 years and our two sons were raised here, so they are perhaps "Galleywood Folk".I am involved with local history and am a Friend of the Galleywood Heritage Centre. While I was researching the men who died in WW1 for an exhibition here in 2008, I became totally involved in their stories and they became so very real to me. No longer just names on a page.This made me question why the village of Galleywood has no proper War Memorial.
