Charles had survived WW1, probably Private 126836 in the Labour Corps.He became a casualty of WW2 when a bomb dropped in Skinners Lane in Galleywood where he was living with William and Alice Smith. He was injured when the bomb fell on 30th October and died later in hospital.He is buried in St Michael's churchyard.
