On 14th May 1917 Willie's battalion was in Monchy-le-Preux near Arras, only to be met by heavy fire. On 19th May the casualties were heavy and Willie was killed. His brother Gilbert was with him. He was seriously wounded but he survived the war.Willie is commemorated on the Arras Memorial, Pas de Calais.
